French Review

Following English, French is the second most popular language to learn as a foreign language in the world. Although it is far from being spoken by the second largest population, you can hear French spoken everywhere in the world often by the most influential part of a particular population.

The quantity of countries where French is spoken might come to you as a surprise due to the heritage from the ancient French Empire, which was vast. Chinese can be heard everywhere in the world, too. But the influence of the cultured classes and officials that speak French in Canada, Africa, Lebanon, the Middle East, Asia, the Caribbean, and the South Pacific outweighs those speaking Chinese in the Chinatowns throughout the world.

Although French has lost its reputation in diplomacy, it is still respected as a cultured language among language-lovers across the globe. More and more people just come to the language classes and enquire about French. Young people are becoming more and more interested in French as a language and France as a country, looking forward to traveling or studying there.

As far as the degree of difficulty is concerned, French falls in the medium category. Extremely simple grammar is one reason. However, it’s hard to gain a decent pronunciation with a proper accent. People can accept it if your pronunciation is bad in other languages. But it is quite another thing when it comes to critical French ears and attitude.

French grammar doesn’t have noun cases, which is good. Verbs inflect and adjectives, however, must agree with nouns. Although the younger French people are increasingly ignoring it, the subjunctive mood in French are encouraged to learn.

Make sure to take French as your top priority if you want to learn French together with other tongues. The reason is that you are going to be judged by your French in the world no matter how well you speak Dutch, Norwegian, Hungarian, or Indonesian. With poor French, you won’t be considered as a person that has great language achievement.
